Welcome to the website of the 2009 Annual Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Coastal Management Meeting. The virtual meeting brought together staff from state coastal zone management programs, NOAA and other partners to discuss three pressing coastal management issues for the region:

Goal: Keep state coastal management programs abreast of key efforts underway at NOAA and provide opportunity to ask questions. Topics to be covered include:

2:15-3:30: Regional Ocean Governance
Goal: Foster lesson sharing session among regional governance entities to help newly formed groups (MARCO) get off the ground and enhance the effectiveness of existing efforts (NROC). Representatives for different regional ocean governance organizations will discuss their successes, pitfalls and other lessons learned.

Planning for Climate Change & Dealing with Uncertainty
Goal: Foster lesson sharing among state coastal management programs to learn about recent state activities to plan for and adapt to climate change and how they are addressing uncertainty.

Energy and Marine Spatial Planning
Goal: Educate participants about recent advances in marine spatial planning and offshore energy facility siting and how state coastal zone management programs will be impacted.
